Episode 24 - Disorders

Kate: Speaking of paying attention, they say that's the reason no one bothers to read nowadays.  This onslaught of media has shortened our attention spans substantially.

Caleb: The DSM-V is listing several new disorders directly associated with the overuse of smart devices.  Like the sensation that your phone is vibrating, or making noise and really it's not.

Kate: That totally happens to me.

Caleb: It comes from our need to be and feel connected to someone or something besides our own internal dialogue.  We're conditioning ourselves to only ever do that through our phones.

Kate:  Wait a minute... Are you trying to tell me I have a disorder?!
